What you always bring
The appointment confirmation, printed or on your phone: without it you won’t get past the door.
Your valid original passport and a copy of the used pages.
The approval decision, printed, with the file number, even if you received it electronically.
Fee 790 012 stamped by the bank, or the receipt with NRC. It is the document that sinks the most appointments.
Three recent colour photos, plain white background, 32 × 26 mm, facing forward.
Form EX-17 signed by hand, with no crossings-out.
Your previous card, if you have one, even if expired.
Depending on your case
Renewal: previous card and, if requested, an updated work-history report.
Family reunification: family book or certificates, translated and apostilled or legalised if foreign.
Students: enrolment or admission letter and health insurance if your decision requires it.
Minors: attend with whoever holds parental authority. Children under six don’t give fingerprints but are photographed.
What gets you sent home
A name that differs between passport, fee and EX-17. A fee under the wrong code. Photos with a grey background or shadows. An EX-17 corrected with correction fluid.
General information, not legal advice. For questions about your own case, check the decision you were sent or ask a professional.
